I AUTOMNE
Brumes aux matins d'or.

I AUTUMN
Autumn, loud and high, you may let sound your fanfares.
Mists in the golden morn. Withered leaves, thick perfumes,
And a whispering voice that in the distance fades.
The hunter on my tracks lets loose his baying hounds.
When the nights have devoured all your short-lasting glee
And the gold has faded off the tales of your years,
Sappy trees once again will lure the humming bee,
Your song will hide away under these dashing greens.
For me, Autumn, never will you again arise.
Clotted blood in the trunk announces no return.
And on the fading voice utter silence will thrive.
To him who loves no more, there's no more fuel to burn!
