XIII MATIN
L'invisible parfum accompagne mes jours.

XIII MORNING
One day I left the house on which all through the night
The wind had furiously hurled heavy waves of rain.
Dawn arose from the road and it fell from the sky,
Ran along the waters, with the wind went again.
It was a clear morning with romantic flavour
Flowers opened as do, after a dream, your eyes.
The branches of the trees stretched and with new ardour
Round the tall lilac shrubs fluttered white butterflies.
From many bygone years smiles again were rising.
Many forgotten loves came back to memory.
Let these loves be silent, let these smiles be fading.
Their invisible scent will still hang around me.
The bright morning was like a clear, stainless water.
I bent on it to drink: in a mirror alike,
I saw her whose image all day I remember
And, when the night has come, makes me dream, makes me cry.
