XII NEIGE
Neige.

XII SNOW
Snow. The city is white on this pale early day.
The lilt of a gay song irradiates my chamber.
Like it, your smile so pure keeps from me far away
And we shall not pick the laurels of December.
Neither the muffled step nor the rumour of time
Shall open up the jail where dwells this voice of yours.
There's an unwritten tale where we lie on a shrine.
Where a butterfly was caught in the web of hours.
There floats about a scent of frost and glorious chill.
In such coldness your brow haughtily is confined.
And neither crystal, nor silver, nor dawn, nor pearl
Could compare with the gleam that enlightens a mind.
By the falling snow shall our footprints be erased.
A voice fading away shall remove my sorrow,
Not my hand on your brow, Not my arm round your waist.
As would fetters of ice, numbs that kiss of morrow.
